Development of Russian Engineering Software
In the face of Western sanctions, high-tech manufacturing companies have encountered challenges in replacing not only hardware but also software. This includes the CAD segment, where Western solutions have led the market for decades. However, since 2014, there has been a trend towards replacing these solutions, which has gained further momentum in recent years. In Russia, three consortia of companies developing complex engineering software have emerged, focusing on PLM, CAD, CAE, EDA, and other classes of solutions, integrating and deploying them in real projects within the domestic industry.
The universal direct solver for large systems of linear algebraic equations (SLAE) developed by UNIPRO — USPARS — serves the same purpose: to provide a full-fledged replacement for foreign packages. Its performance on some types of SLAE is now on par with, and in some cases even surpasses, two foreign counterparts — MUMPS and PARDISO. USPARS can be used as an independent computational program or serve as the computational core in engineering IT systems developed by others. The first such project was completed in 2022. The development plans for USPARS have been defined, and the UNIPRO engineering team is actively implementing them, strengthening the technological sovereignty of the country.
