UGENE Expands Functionality and Popularity
Long before open source became mainstream in Russia, our company released the first version of the open bioinformatics platform Unipro UGENE. Over more than 14 years, the number of releases has approached fifty.
The platform's functionality has expanded significantly, and the number of users now counts in the tens of thousands across all continents. In October, the weekly program usage reached nearly 12,000, and the number of downloads of the latest August 44th release exceeded 19,000 over two months.
The UGENE team actively implements user requests to improve analysis tools, allowing UGENE to compete with commercial products. For instance, the upcoming release will include a new feature for viewing multiple sequence alignments in the editor. Daily interaction with users is a core activity for the team, and expert biologists help solve complex challenges. Commercial support enables users to quickly access additional features and receive personalized training.
