UGENE vs COVID-19
Bio-med experts all over the world continue to strive towards optimal treatment and new vaccines to tackle COVID-19. We also feel involved in this work, as scientific articles appear where Unipro UGENE is used for research related to the development of potential vaccines against SARS-CoV-2. But this is a difficult matter. «Vaccine development may not be straightforward, due to antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE). Antibodies against viral surface proteins can, in some cases, increase infection severity by ADE.» – write american scientists in their recent article. During the research, in particular, they studied homology of the ADE associated spike glycoprotein peptide sequences of various known human and animal coronaviruses with the Clustal Omega method using Unipro UGENE software. Results of this research are important for the vaccine development, as well as for convalescent plasma treatment and targeted monoclonal antibody therapy.
