Aug-Sept 2011 UGENE team actively participates bioinformatics events. In August there was a tutorial on UGENE features to process NGS data accompanied by oral presentation on UGENE genome aligner at young scientists school "Bioinformatics methods and NGS technologies" in Novosibirsk. September is marked by voyage to Moscow at 2nd Joint NIAID-ISTC Workshop where our engineeres presented opportunities for collaboration with USA biomedical research institutions; and participation at 3rd young scientist school on Bioinformatics and System Biology where integrated UGENE-Expert Discovery system was introduced for intellectual hierarchic analysis of genetic sequences. July 2011 Bioinformatics Open-Source Conference (BOSC-2011), highly valued simpozium for open-source community, this year is held in Vienna, Austria. Konstantin Okonechnikov introduced new features and progress of UGENE and communicated with leaders of other bioinfrmatics projects. More details read here June 2011 Our engineers attends PSI '2011 conference with oral presentation on UGENE and UniPro acts as a sponsor this time. 15 December 2010 UGENE 1.9.0 is released with rich set of features. These are support of "clonning in silico", analyze of complex signals in nucleotide sequences, Open CL support , external tools support, some GUI and functionality improvements and bugfixes. 2 November 2010 Unipro engineers are awarded 3rd prize at the official ceremony of

for their work "UGENE - inified HPC environment for molecular biologists".

3 April 2009 Oral presentation on UGENE, concerning with aspects of parallelized versions of bioinformatics algortithms, was held by Ivan Efremov at the Third Congress on Parallel Computing Technologies 2009 in Nizhnii Novgorod, Russia. March 2009 UniPro and PliXoS GmbH starts mutual cooperation 19 March 2009 Two poster and computer presentations on UGENE were held at The Fifth Moscow International Congress «Biotechnology: State of the Art and Prospects of Development» during Bioinformatics section activities. 9-13 February 2009 Six UniPro engineers shared their experienced knowledge on Java with Siberian region high-school IT tutors during Sun Teacher Academy program, organized and supported by S-Pb and Novo offices of Sun Mycrosystems. Discussed themes covered Java SE platform, JDK 6 /7, Java ME, EJB, servlets, JSP, JSF, Java FX, multi-thread approach in Java applications, Java for real-time systems. 1 December 2008 Greetings to Ivan Efremov, student of IT department of NSU, and to his tutor Mikhail Fursov, with winning the junior programmers' contest devoted to development of the applications for the PowerXCell™ processor, carried out by T-platforms Optimized for Cell BE architecture HMMER application, aimed for analyzing of genomic sequences, demonstrated the performance improvement by two orders compared to standard Cell realization and by one order in comparison with general purpose cpu. Optimized algorithm is embedded into freely distributed package UGENE , see the report here Dec-Nov 2008 UniPro participates in contest on applied HPC led by Russia's state-run nanotechnology corporation RosNano and Intel corporation, with paper "UGENE- accessible suite for conducting HPC for molecular biologists" 17 July 2008 Version 1.1 of uGENE is released. This version adds new usability issues as algortitms and formats support , GUI and performance improvements. The complete list of changes can be found here . June 2008 UniPro participates at international conference BGRS'2008 in Novosibirsk, making computer and poster presentation of UniPro new product uGENE at "High-performance computing in bioinformatics" section jointly with IC&G SB RAS. Multitask , mutltiprocessing and multiplatform software uGENE raised mutual interest of scientific community. Sun Microsystems Novosibirsk representative office supported presentation by providing hardware. April 2008 UniPro is engaged in Sun Partner Advantage Program as Associate Partner, and participates in Sun promotion action "Port Now". One of UniPro bioinformatics tools will be ported to Solaris 10 , being built on Sun Fire X4150 quad-core server. 18 March 2008 UniPro participated in meeting of IT directors of Nonprofitable Association "SibAcademSoft" with Matthias Kaiserswerth, Director IBM Zurich Research Laboratory and VP Systems, in the context of his visit to Novosibirsk Scientific Center. Draft overview of UniPro skills and projects was presented. Round table discussion was concerned about different aspects of innovations, sw development and technological enterpreneurship. November 2007 Cooperation Agreement signed between PagogeS AG, Germany and UniPro. UniPro trend to expand its IT services to European market is picked up by PagogeS which is interested to promote high-quality software development and R&D services. 21-22 May 2007 Third Siberian forum of Information Systems Industry SIIS 2007 is proceeding and expanding the discussing frame, raised by previous forums (2005, 2002). The scope includes IT segment positioning in Novosibirsk technopark, withstanding to asian IT business rivals, investment challenging, domestic information programs participating. UniPro acted as one of the major co-founders of the first SIIS 2002. March 2007 UniPro participated in business negotiations between Korean and Novosibirsk enterprises organized by Novosibsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Korean Bisuness Centre. September 2006 UniPro bioinformatics tools were introduced at Russian-German forum "Biotechnology" in Saint Petersburg as well as whole company profile. Only two organizations from Siberia, UniPro and NSU, participated in this first meeting among dozens of Moscow and StPete institutions. More than twenty participants from different German companies and universities presented their profiles and needs in cooperation with Russian partners. July 2006 UniPro GenomeBrowser was presented at BGRS'2006 and its Summer School, resulting in effective feedback for future development from international bioinformatics community. 28-29 June 2006 UniPro participates in Workshop on Science Intensive Applied Software held as a part of PSI'2006 conference with two presentations on its science-intensive software UniPro GenomeBrowser and Electromigration modeling. 23 May 2006 IBM business team spent several hours in UniPro office during its survey tour in the Siberian/Ural region. Main subjects concerning software development in present-day environment were considered. May 2006 The new plug-ins development for bioinformatics tool UniPro GenomeBrowser started in cooperation with Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS. April 2006 Short visit of The Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE)representative. Under the foundation vital support UniPro program complex "GeoPro" has been successfully developing for 2 years. "GeoPro"'s main applied area is well-logging data interpretation. The last version of product was presented and perspectives of science-intensive software products development were discussed. 18 April 2006 UniPro participates in the first Siberian Microsoft Business Forum 2006. 10 April 2006 Implementation of graphical editor for cross-borehole space for demands of Institute of Geophysics of SB RAS is starting. February 2006The series of meetings between UniPro and bioinformatics division of IC&G SB RAS been held for interchange of experience in software development for genetics and bioinformatics. Possibilities for joint developing discussed. November 2005 , Business Mission of one of the largest IT services providers in Europe visited UniPro headquarters during its first evaluation trip to Novosibirsk.
